For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.” ( Colossians 1:9)
Statement from the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Ireland, Scotland, North East England and Its Affiliated regions
Monday 23rd March 2020
My beloved in Christ, may the peace and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all and I pray that you read this statement and may you all be blessed and in good health. We have been watching the situation closely in regards to COVID-19 and we have implemented the health procedures to their full effect in all our Diocese’s churches, as dictated by the UK Ministry of Health.
We have all tried our best, praying and pleading to our Lord Jesus Christ that our liturgies can continue, during this Holy Lent and that the doors of the churches are open for the believers but unfortunately, due to the fast spread of the virus and its danger to you and society, out of our concern, we have decided the following: + All church services have been halted for the time being, including Holy Liturgies, with immediate effect. This includes clergy and deacons for all the Diocese’s churches, starting from tomorrow: Tuesday 24th March 2020, until further notice. I leave you in God’s protection, pleading to our Good Saviour to purify the world from this plague and we pray that God shortens these days.
May God look over you. By the grace of God.
Bishop of the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Ireland, Scotland, North East England and Its Affiliated Regions
